The Promotion interview for the rank of Inspector is a two stage process. Interviews are first held within each region. Candidates are then selected from each region to go forward to the final board.
The self assessment application form is used for both interviews and consists of nine competency areas. These are broken down into four skill areas: Task skills, Interpersonal skills, Personal qualities and Knowledge base.
Completion of the application form is a lengthy process and preparation is essential. Candidates should first look at the area of application, select an example from their work experience and then apply it to a particular competency. This can be difficult.
